This is especially true for people who are confined to a wheelchair due to severe mobility restrictions and/or who, due to cognitive impairments (e.g., senile dementia), are no longer able to perceive themselves and articulate their thoughts. People with severely limited mobility sit in wheelchairs for long periods of time without moving, which can cause pressure points at the seams and lead to the development of pressure sores. The RolliPulli is a wheelchair-friendly sweater designed for people with severely limited mobility, made from yarns that are wholly or at least partially sourced from European, ideally German, hemp. The garment is manufactured seamlessly in one piece on a flat knitting machine. This eliminates the need for sewing and the use of non-biodegradable sewing threads.
